Last Oscar’s 2007, Peter Nygard together with his Nygard International hosted the Star Gala Night in Beverly Hills. Many actresses and actors came to the event as part of the international stage of celebrities and to showcase their own beauty and gallantry. Peter Nygard has been a name in Hollywood as a fashion designer and businessman focusing on the expanse of women’s apparel and accessories. To say, Nygard is a real big thing not just in the fashion industry but also in the Hollywood affairs. It is very hard to separate the world of fashion from the world of celebrities who wear the best the designs.

Contributing to Peter Nygard’s fame is his private island that lays in the vastness of Bahamas. The island has gained prominence and fame for Nygard because of the people who have stayed in the island including the former US president George Bush and the TV host Oprah Winfrey. Not just that, but the Boeing 727 of Nygard has also gained international stage after being painted and signature by the name of Nygard International’s famous big man. With the fashion designs worn by various celebrities and the best of media attention to the Boeing 727 and the island, Nygard is truly a big name in the fashion industry and the entertainment industry.

In fact, Peter Nygard appears in various TV programs and movies. Fyra Sanger Fran Finland is a TV series where Nygard appeared as Bybor. It is Finnish TV series; well, it is not a wonder that Nygard appeared in the series because he is of Finnish descent. In a special documentary Get Out, Nygard also appeared in an interview with the appreciation from the makers. While for Wild on Caribbean, Nygard appeared as himself to act as a Bahamian fashion designer. In fact, most of the roles that Nygard appeared on TV of theater, he served as a fashion designer of much wealth and fame.

The famous name of Peter Nygard is truly a name in the industry of rich and famous. His own stint in the entertainment industry has been a talk of the fashion industry. There are other fashion designers who have appeared in various TV and movie roles because fashion and the entertainment industry are two close friends that cannot be separated by instance or will. It is a big thing that Nygard acted on the opportune time of getting the best of the Hollywood fame.

Summer’s a hot time of the year, but it isn’t just about the weather. This is the time to look your best and really show off your personal style (and that beach body). While winter may have been great for restraint and spring is the time for laid back fun, summer is the best time to be ostentatious and show off what you’ve got. This is the era of the monokini–you can pick up your restraint sometime in December.

Clutch Purses

Nowadays, personal security is everything. Since you’re already supposed to carry your purse like a football, you might as well drop the survival bag and carry something simple and cute. You’re not hiking through the rainforest, ladies. You’re just going around town, and you don’t need a backpack to hold the basics. A simple clutch purse can be a great way to ground a brightly colored outfit, or it can become a highlight if you want to add a fresh color to your ensemble.

Wild Shoes

The days of the boring shoe are over. While you can always just throw on a pair of sandals, why not pick out a pair that boasts wild colors and crazy patterns? While you can make your neatly painted toes the highlight of your summer footwear, you can also wear a closed shoe that shows off boldness and confidence. The only rule is that you need to be yourself this summer, but don’t be afraid to impress with your footwear either.

Shades

A simple pair of shades are great when you’re trying to avoid being blinded by the sun. But when the mercury looks like it’s going to blow, you can bust out of the boring sunglasses mold. A 1950s-inspired design can take your look to another planet, or a more subdued pair of shades inspired by the ’70s can make you look downright groovy. As with everything else on this list, now is the time for color. Since they ship easily, shades are one of the best accessories on eBay.

Summer is the time to really break out and be yourself. You can hide behind a big, puffy coat later. For now, show off what you’ve got, and rock the accessories that’ll put you in your best light. Don’t be afraid to go wild, because you deserve to have fun in the sun. Gray is gone and even black is getting blasé. Your accessories say a lot about you, and hot accessories say the best things possible.

Your wedding day is one of the most important in your life. You will always remember it, and it will be immortalized in pictures, which may grace the walls of your home for decades to come. So what do you want to remember about it: how great you looked, or how your expensive wedding outfit let you down? Discover seven ways to fail with your wedding wardrobe, and learn how to avoid every single one.

1. Dress Doesn’t Fit

Try on your dress! Sounds simple, right? Many brides, however, make this mistake. They want to play it safe, but they miss out on something important. Try on your dress before you buy, when you get it altered, after you get it altered, and a week before the big day. Always be very careful when handling your dress, and enlist the aid of a friend (or several) when needed. If you’re conscientious, you won’t damage or dirty you gown before its big wedding day debut. But you’ve got to try it on several times because you don’t want to find out the day of that you can’t breathe in it, that the hem makes you trip or that the top just isn’t snug enough.

2. You Can’t Walk

Many brides worry about falling while walking down the aisle, but there’s a very simple way to avoid that nightmare entirely: wear your shoes. You’ve got to put your wedding shoes on to have a fitting, and while you’re at it you need to walk around. Don’t restrict yourself to the plushy carpet in the bridal boutique, either. Try to find realistic surfaces, like grass and hard floors, if you can. No matter what, take a decent little walk in your shoes even if you’re not wearing the dress to make sure they fit and you’re steady in them.

3. Visible Underwear

The bride’s in a beautiful white dress, underneath the bright June sun . . . and everyone can see her sexy red bra. Don’t let this be you. Wear light-colored or nude underwear beneath your clothes. Choose a bra with nude straps or clear straps, because you definitely don’t want them to show. White and beige lingerie are the perfect choice for any bride. Bold colors and black underclothes are an invitation for humiliation.

4. Lumpy Look

You want to look smooth and svelte when you’re walking down the aisle. The best way to achieve this goal is through a slimming structure garment such as Spanx. You can find form-smoothing garments in any length or style, so make sure to take the time to find one that won’t show underneath your gown.

5. Gaps and Slips

A wedding picture can be ruined if skin is showing where it shouldn’t. Use two-sided tape to make sure everything is a perfect fit, and it stays that way. With a single piece of two-sided tape, you can prevent gaping holes in shirts, slipping straps and a whole host of other problems that may affect anyone in the wedding party.

6. Deodorant

A gown can be ruined by deodorant marks. To avoid ugly problems, instruct everyone to wear clear deodorant. When even this doesn’t help, bring a small stack of sponges. A Magic Eraser and similar products may be used to wipe deodorant smudges away so that everyone looks great for every single picture.

7. Test Your Hair and Jewelry

Practice your wedding day hair look at least once before the big day, and put on your jewelry while your hair is all done up. You don’t want to find out while you’re at the altar that your hair keeps getting caught in your earrings, or that the necklace you’ve chosen doesn’t fall the right way with your gown. Always test your look before taking the big walk, down to the smallest of details.

You can prevent wedding wardrobe malfunctions and problems by planning ahead. Pack a small bag to take with you on the day of the wedding, or drop it off at your venue the night before. A travel sewing kit may be used for quick, on-the-spot repairs. Take the time to ensure that you have white thread and thread in the colors of your bridesmaid gowns. Pack clear nail polish to stop runs in nylons or give unmanicured nails a quick, camera-friendly sheen. Bring along extra buttons in the color of the tuxedos (likely black). You may also need shoe polish to shine up wedding party member shoes that look a little dull.

Some wedding wardrobe mishaps happen between the wedding and reception, or at the reception. Remember to take care of your dress for every moment that you have it on, even after your big march down the aisle. If you’re going to eat, lean forward toward the food and if possible, cover your dress with napkins. Hold your wedding gown up while walking to keep it from dragging on the floor, and have someone tie the train up as soon as the ceremony is over and the pictures are taken.

If you pay attention to your look and plan ahead, you’ll look perfect all the way from the proposal with Robbins Brothers engagement rings to the end of your big day.

Organizing your bedroom doesn’t have to just be about plastic container and shoe racks. There of plenty of ways to organize your bedroom whilst adding a touch of creative flair.

If you have a lot of scarves, shawls or pashminas then a cute wooden ladder is a great way to store them. Many are too pretty to have hidden away in a closet; this way you can display them in a fun way that also helps to organize them. Color code them on the ladders rungs to add an interesting visual effect.

Make use of space under your bed by using low cut boxes to store things in. You can either buy specially made boxes or you can cut down old boxes and paint or decorate them to your tastes. These are great for storing clothes in the winter or summer when you don’t need them. They are also a great place to store shoes.

If you have a big handbag collection, then display them! You can hang them up on a wall on hooks as a feature, or you can even display them on shelves for an interesting twist. This also makes them easy to get to,

If you have lots of books then the obvious place for them is on a bookshelf. Most people organize them alphabetically, which is fine. However if you want something more visually appealing then you can organize them by color. If you don’t have a large number of books and then don’t require a whole bookshelf, you can line them up, color coded, along your desk, or in a creative stack in the corner.

Most of the rooms in your house will benefit from a little paint, some curtains and maybe even a trinket or two strategically placed on a shelf. However, you cannot overlook the one place that you spend a lot of your time: the closet. Clothes, shoes, accessories, and jewelry are sometimes all stuffed into the same place so that you can look around and see everything that you own all in one spot. If this area is not eye catching or well organized, you may be missing out on some important pieces of your wardrobe.

The first step to making a change in your closet is clearing everything out. Place like items together. For example, there should be an area just for your shoes, an area for all of your purses, and if you have a favorite brand of clothing that you really like, keep all of the LRG Clothes together in one pile. While you are moving things, look for items that are too small, too big or just are not in style anymore. These do not go back into the closet.

Figure out what types of containers or organizers you will need. If you have narrowed down your shoe collection to only twenty pairs, you need to find a way to keep them all neatly in order. They cannot be thrown all over the place. The same goes for seasonal clothes.

Go through everything until it is back in place and organized. Then add the finishing touches. Consider a mirror with a beautiful design around the outside. Maybe even hang a picture of yourself in a favorite outfit!

Apartment dwellers are often looking for new and exciting ways to jazz up their space. Designer home collections such as those by Ralph Lauren, Ann Klein and Laura Ashley offer everything from high quality furniture to bedding and curtains. Collections make decorating simple because the furnishings have already been coordinated.

This is valuable because not everyone has a knack for decorating and these collections can spare do-it-yourself’ers from design disasters. There are two usual complaints from those living in apartments, one is the terrible lack of space. Nice roomy apartments exist, but, by definition, apartments are typically on the small side. However, the right collection can make the most of these small spaces and add just the right amount of personality and sparkle.

The second most popular complaint is the lack of color. Fortunately, many progressive apartment managers are now offering an accent wall option. This may be a small thing to some but a pop of color can turn dull into daring and boring into beautiful. If you currently live in an apartment without this option and the white walls are getting to you, consider making a change. Forrent.com is a great source for finding a new colorful place to call home.

Choose a collection that represents your personal style and use it throughout your space. This will give your apartment or home a sense of unity and high fashion. Designers are all about color and pattern so don’t be afraid to mix both. If you feel that you are in a bit of a rut, check out a designer home collection. Having rooms that “wow” may be easier than you think.

Your first home is an exciting experience. You want to make every inch of that new living space feel like your home. In order to do that you have to decorate it the right way. Decorating isn’t always easy. It takes a lot of thinking and planning. If you are willing to do the work you can give your home that personal touch that people will notice when they walk in the door.

The idea of decorating your home is to know what works for you. While it’s nice to make a house appealing to guests, you have to make sure your home is appealing to you. Don’t worry about fancy frames and high-end furniture if it’s going to make you feel uncomfortable in your home. You have to make sure it’s what you like.

Second, make sure your house has a theme. A big key to decorating, and something that will help you make good decisions, is knowing what the theme of your house is. It’s important to know if you think that perhaps it should have a certain color scheme or maybe a theme of an animal or season. Knowing what the concept is behind your decorating will do wonders.

Another thing to consider is going vintage. It’s popular and you can do it with little money. You can search on Canada 411 for some older items to put in your home. A little money could give it that cool retro look.

Your first home should feel like it’s yours. Decorate it the way you like so you’ll want to come home.

Every woman can dress with style. No matter the season, she can achieve a classic look with just a few staples in her wardrobe. Fashionable, classic outfits and accessories can accent any ensemble.

Shoes are, arguably, an accessory that can make or break an outfit. Especially for women, purchasing shoes can be either difficult or exhilarating. Searching for deals at www.offers.com can be a positive experience for every kind of shopper. Today, high heels are available in wedge form, classic pointed-toes styles, or strappy sandals. Tones of brown go best with dresses because they blend well with skin tones and elongate the legs. Finally, shoes such as ballet-style flats are available.

Belts add a plethora of options for women’s wardrobes. From classic brown or black leather, to sparkly-accented belts, to scarves, women have an abundance of products to enhance their waistlines. Besides holding pants up, belts are able to finish off an outfit with flair.

Depending on the weather and climate, thin sweaters, jackets, or heavy coats will be a staple in a woman’s closet. Here is where it can be interesting! Jackets or overcoats in eye-popping hues and unique designs should be considered. Shoppers should not worry about matching their outfits perfectly here. Feel free to add a vintage style to a modern outfit, or vice versa!

Last but not least, women should purchase a quality pair of blue jeans for their wardrobes. Dark washes work best on every body type, but jeans can be bought in a variety of cuts and colors. Tall, thin women can sport skinny jeans, while shorter women may prefer boot-cut designs to lengthen their figures.

What options do you have if you are trying to reduce the cost of decorating your office? Interior decoration of the office is important because it is related to productivity and employee morale. However, trying to cut down costs will be difficult because you cannot compromise on the professional look and feel.

One option is to find individuals related to your employees in the business of designing interiors. They need not be the best in the world as far as quality of design is concerned. You can bring them on board so that there is a sense of unity and fraternity as far as the design process concern.

Make it very clear to the individual completing the task that he or she is expected to follow instructions and suggestions of employees till the last letter. You can avoid criticism of favoritism by making this a transparent process. Rather than treating it as a professional assignment, you can insist that the relative should treat the work as a personal project.

You can also point out the potential business options if the employees are impressed by the quality of work done. Another option is to choose your most creative employees and assign them to an interior design workshop so that they get the right ideas and tips. This will make them confident enough to design the interiors of the office on their own.

This is a much better option than having a professional designer from the outset. What is more, the employees will be more than eager to work for you because they would be working for their own office and workplace.

Image via Wikipedia

We all have heard about DIY projects and must have done many such projects when renovating or improving our homes. However, most of us are not comfortable with the idea of DIY projects in office. The sight of employees walking in to find the boss with a paint brush in hand may seem incongruous. The sight of customers walking in to find the employees and the boss trying their hand at interior design may be downright embarrassing.

How to overcome this problem? Well, you have no option but to respect the concept of dignity of labor. To be ashamed of painting your own office is to demean the work done by professionals all over the world.

Secondly, you can try combining the DIY project with some cash incentive. You will save money that otherwise would have gone towards labor payment. In such a scenario, offering to pay half the money saved as cash bonus and using the other half to provide better facilities to the employees can make the DIY project a worthwhile option. Further, you can buy the tools and equipments used in the project and use it for future DIY activities as well.

Thirdly, you can convert the exercise into one big picnic and request employees to bring something to eat and drink for a gala time. Getting employees to work together on non work related projects will help improve communication and teamwork.

On the whole, you just have to overcome your natural hesitation in suggesting DIY projects to your employees. Further, you must ensure that your employees have clear idea of what needs to be done and know how to proceed.

Sometimes making a room or house look fashionable can be expensive. Because, the new, trendy looks cost a lot, right? They don’t have to. Decorating a room doesn’t need to involve buying a lot of pricey pictures, furniture or accessories. Not when it can be done on a budget and look just as good. Here are some easy and cheap decorating tips.

Before starting, think about what sort of look you want. Is there some sort of specific theme or design? Perhaps you can do a little research to help you decide what you want before you begin.

Painting a room is fairly simple and not too expensive. Painting the walls can bring a whole new feel, personality or mood to a room. And you don’t even have to do the entire room. You can paint accents or maybe even just a single wall.

Furniture can be a great decoration, but it can also be pricey. Instead of buying new furniture, you can work with or change what furniture you already have. Paint, stain, or touch-up wooden furniture, buy or make slipcovers or throw blankets to cover a couch or easy chair.

Shop around at garage sales, thrift shops, or flea markets. Sometimes you can find exactly what you want or you could even get new ideas for deciding what direction you want to take a room.

Curtains or other window treatments are fairly inexpensive or can be made inexpensively.

Naturally, there is more you can do to create the look you want. Just remember that a nice looking room doesn’t have to break the bank.

It is quite simple to know if your home or your looks are outdated. How long has it been since you updated your things? If you cannot remember the last time your home or your wardrobe got an update, it is probably time for one. With online comparison shopping, you can be sure to get the newest looks and styles for the lowest possible price. When shopping for clothes, accessories, and home decor items, you need to set a fixed budget and stick to it. Determine how much the new look is worth to you, and compare styles and prices. Keep up with your spending as you go along. This will help you avoid the shock of an enormous bill at the end of the month.

Prepaid credit cards are an excellent way to stick within your budget, whether you are shopping online or in the stores. The Reach Prepaid Card is not attached to your checking or savings account, so if the number is stolen online, your liabilities are limited. Having a set amount put aside for your wardrobe will eliminate the worry of finding out you have spent far more than you intended to on clothes, shoes, and accessories. Having a set budget will also give you the freedom to spend the money when you find the perfect item you need while you are shopping. The Reach Prepaid Card will also give you the convenience of shopping with plastic without the worry of debt piling up. Put what you can spend on clothing or household decor on your prepaid card to make these purchases free of worry and hassle.

There are many big designers who were initially small names and now are touching sky with each and every new collection line released by them. These designers release new line of clothing with new concept for every season.

These fashion designers are hired by big celebrities and design specially for them they are out of reach for a normal man to afford. There single dress will take one month salary of a normal person hailing from a middle class. These designers’ wears are only rich people’s cup of tea.

Movie and television stars never repeat what they wear, they are public icons they ensure that they do not repeat their dress on two different occasions. To assure that celebrities are dressed properly for every occasion they hire a designer who is always ready with a dress. Where as a normal man will spend hours standing in front of the wardrobe to select what to wear at work. But there are also many good brands that are affordable by normal man.

Changing the color of a room is not a complicated task. However, many people just walk into a paint store, buy the first brand they find and start painting. Any professional painter will tell you that there is a lot more to painting than just a roller. If you have made the decision to decorate a room with new paint and furniture, these tips will help you create the right atmosphere.

•	Ask for help. You do not have to hire a painter to get a bit of instruction on painting. Talk to the salesperson at your local home improvement store. Find out which brand of paint is best for what you are doing. Also, get tips on what brushes, rollers and other supplies you will need. Do not be afraid to talk to more than one store. Make sure you are getting the best price and the best advice.

•	Choose your color wisely. Paint is permanent. Although you can repaint a room if you do not like the color, it can be quite a hassle. Instead, buy several paint samples. These little jars of paint are easy to transport. Take them home and sample the colors. Test the colors on the walls and see which one appeals to you the most. If you are keeping your existing furniture, make sure you choose a color that does not clash.

•	Prep your room. The use of drop cloths and masking tape will save you a ton of cleanup time after painting. Place the cloths over any furniture and the floor. Tape off windowsill edges, around the baseboards and door frames, and around electrical outlets. The cloths and tape will prevent paint from ending up somewhere it should not be.

Invite some friends and have a painting party. Everyone will have fun and you will have plenty of help to finish the room.

When it comes to decorating your home, you may think that you cannot do it without professional help. This is not true! Millions of people do their own decorating, especially people with a limited income. Unless you have unlimited funds for your decorating, you should consider doing it yourself. While it will take more effort on your part, as long as you have the time, you will end up with a home that you adore. You will also have the added pride of knowing you decorated it on your own!

The first step in doing your own decorating is to have an idea of what you are doing. There are many resources available to help you. You can check out interior design books at the library. You can take advantage of the internet and all of the free advice, tips and ideas online. You can even enlist the help of your fashionable friends.

As spring gets closer, you may find yourself fighting the urge to redecorate. Do not try to fight it! Spring is the perfect time for making over all or part of your home. Even if you have a limited budget, you can still create a beautiful atmosphere. The first thing you need to do is some Spring-cleaning. You want to start your home makeover with a clean palette. In addition, it is always nice to have a freshly scrubbed home after the long, dreary winter.

While you are cleaning, you can sort through your belongings. Get rid of the clutter in each room. Remember, you are prepping the rooms for decorating. The fewer things you have in each room, the better. Once your home is sparkling clean from top to bottom, it is time to start decorating. For a limited budget, it is best to do one room at a time. Start with the main living area. Since this is usually a large room, you will have space for being creative. Have a plan in mind before you start making changes. The paint color should be your first decision. You can then concentrate on adding furniture and accessories to accent the color and make the room “pop”.

While large rooms leave you plenty of room for creativity, they can also leave you wondering what to do next. You have to take care not to overdo a room. You want your room to be spacious, not busy. Avoid the temptation to fill every nook and cranny of the room. Instead, focus on providing an atmosphere that is comfortable and visually appealing. If you have any doubts about decorating, use the internet to get advice. You can find plenty of free decorating tips online. You can even join forums and post questions to other people. Mix and match ideas to create the kind of room that you have always wanted.

When you make the decision to re-decorate a room in your home, you have a lot of planning in store. Decorating is not always easy. You have to put thought into your design plan. You want to make sure your plan fits the room. The size of the room you are decorating is a big factor in how you decorate the room. A bigger room leaves you more options. With a bigger room, you have more freedom when it comes to the pieces of furniture. Smaller rooms are harder to decorate because you do not want to make the space feel smaller than it already is.

When you are decorating a small room, space is important. Small rooms do not have to be cramped. You can have minimal furniture in a small room and still have plenty of seating space. With a small room, it is important to choose a light color for the ceiling. Dark colors will make the room seem darker and less roomy. It is also important to let in as much natural light as possible. Choose light-colored window coverings or even sheer coverings. Let the sunlight make the room appear larger to the eye.

With a small room, you want to avoid over-crowding the space. Do not put a full-size sofa in a small room. Instead, opt for a love seat and a mid-sized armchair. The seating will be more intimate and the furniture will take up less space. Artwork on the walls should not be too large. A giant painting will cover too much space on a wall and give the room a crowded feeling. Choose several smaller paintings and hang them in various places to make the walls seem bigger. By doing these few things, you will create the illusion of a space. Decorating a small room may take a bit more thought, but the result will be a comfortable room with the feeling of a large room.

Decorating a room is a challenge for everyone. It does not matter if you are a professional or just an average person. Making everything come together in just the right way can be tough. You have to balance the room and have colors that complement each other. You have to pay attention to the big things, like furniture. You have to have an eye for detail, like accent colors and accessories. It is enough to make your head spin! Add in a limited budget and you really have your work cut out for you.

Fortunately, it is possible for the average person to decorate a room on a budget. The secret is being clever and thinking outside of the box. For instance, instead of insisting on new accessories, like throw pillows in an accent color, you can make them. A little of your favorite fabric, some stuffing and a sewing machine goes a long way when you are working on a tight budget. Another way to be creative without spending a fortune is to shop in thrift shops. You would be surprised at how many great finds you will come across in a thrift shop.

Whether the room is big or small, decorating on a budget is possible. The best way to start is to make a master plan. Have a vision in mind of how you want the room to look. Then, start shopping for ways to create your vision, only shop in new places. Second-hand stores, discount stores and the internet are three places where you can easily find what you need for a low price. If you find something that costs too much money, try to find something similar and more affordable. Just as you can dress like the stars on a budget, you can decorate like them, too. It just takes a little ingenuity and a few bucks to pull off the look you want.

You should be proud of your home and its appearance. From the exterior to the interior, your home is part of you. When people drive by your house, they base their opinions on what your home looks like. When visitors enter your home, they form an opinion about you based on your sense of style. While having a beautiful home is easy to do when you have an unlimited budget, you can still have lovely décor on a fixed budget. You just need to use your imagination.

The first step to decorating on a budget is to know exactly how much money you have to spend. Determine your budget and stick to it, no matter what. This means when you find that extravagant piece of artwork, put it back! If you cannot afford it, do not buy it. Next, do not limit yourself on places to shop. Instead of sticking to only local retailers that may charge higher prices, spread your wings. Utilize the internet for great deals on various pieces to add to your home. When shopping for paint, take your time and ask questions. The most expensive paint is not always the right choice. There are many quality paints available at affordable prices.

Another thing to remember is to take your time. You do not have to redo your entire home at one time. Budget a certain amount each month or every few months and complete one or two rooms at a time. Within a year or so, your entire home will be decorated. Finally, do not rule out used. You can find great deals at yard sales and second-hand shops. As long as the item is in good shape and fits within your budget, buy it. Decorating on a budget takes a little bit of time and a little bit of creative thinking. Before you know it, you will have a home that everyone admires.

Busy moms have many days in which they are lucky to get a real pair of pants on, never mind getting all dressed up for the day. But, busy moms don’t have to sacrifice style for comfort and stain resistance. Here are some ways you can look like a celebrity mom.

Flaunt Your Best Feature

Busy moms don’t have time for a complete make-up routine each day. Instead, play up your best features. Ashlee Simpson uses eye liner and mascara to accentuate her blue eyes and Gwen Stefani sweeps on red lipstick to show off her full lips. The same goes for your best body features too. If you have great legs, like Naomi Watts, wear leggings with a loose tunic. Or, sport a wrap dress like Christian Aguilera, which will show of your curves and has a v-neck that will elongate your body.

Dresses are Easy to Wear

Many women will wear sweat pants and a t-shirt, claiming that it’s easier to wear and comfortable. A nice cotton slip-on dress is even easier to put on, and probably more comfortable. A dress looks a lot nicer and more put together than sloppy sweatpants and a t-shirt. Throw on a pair of sandals and you are good to go shopping or take the kids to the park, while looking like a celebrity mom.

Big Baby Bag

Instead of the cutesy baby bag to carry all your baby gear, purchase a large and stylish purse. Many celebrity moms go with huge bags because they know that the bigger your bag is, the smaller you look. Go with a large and roomy paten black leather bag for all your kid supplies and mommy gear and you’ll feel more stylish.

Big Accessories

Just like a big bag can make you look smaller, so will big sunglasses, big belts, and big scarves. Another benefit to big sunglasses is that they are a fashionista’s way of hiding tired eyes.

After paying first and last month’s rent, and possibly a security deposit, most first renters don’t have much money left for decorating their new digs. But, don’t worry, you can make your new apartment into a home with very little cash and some imagination. Here are some tips to get you started on decorating your first apartment on a budget.

The first thing you want to do is choose a feeling that you want your space to convey. If your new apartment is going to reflect your colorful personality, chose energetic and bring colors. If it will be a place for you to relax and unwind, use soft colors like blues, greens, light purples. A more sophisticated palate may include browns and reds with white or black accents.

To find inexpensive furniture, visit yard sales, consignment shops, and classified ads. Purchase simple pieces that will blend nicely with any style décor. Consider making a platform bed with cinder blocks ad ¾ inch plywood. A futon makes a great couch that can double as a guest bed, or your bed if you have a studio apartment. Don’t forget while shopping that you could paint the furniture.

Since most renters can not paint the walls of their new apartment, add color in creative ways. Create a huge mural with butcher paper and paints or colored pencils. Find cheap frames at dollar stores, purchase a few in different sizes, paint them and arrange on the walls. Hang fun and unusual items like cd covers, sheet music, soup can labels, or pretty pieces of fabric.

Finally, add finishing touches that really bring out your personality. Display pictures of family and friends and add some throw pillows and soft throw blankets to your chair or couch. Proudly display that ceramic pencil holder you made in eighth grade or your grandmother’s costume jewelry for curtain tie-backs. Place a few little candles around, and perhaps a vase or two of fresh flowers.

Most college students don’t have much money to decorate their dorm room, but this is the room that you will be spending the most of your time in. In order to make your room a reflection of you, even if you don’t have much money, check out these cheap ways to decorate a dorm room.

Bedding

Since your bed will most likely be the biggest piece of furniture in your room, pick out a comforter that reflects your personality, but is durable and wont show dirt or stains. The comforter will be the main focal point and provide you with the colors that will be used in the rest of the room. A reversible comforter is a good idea for those that like to change things up every once in a while. Don’t forget that most college dorm room beds are extra long, so make sure your new comforter and sheets will fit properly.

Artwork and Décor

Before you do anything, check the school’s rules about painting, using nails, tacks, and even tape on the walls. Most schools will not allow students to paint, but they can hang things. Posters are the most popular way to decorate dorm room walls, but did you know colored chalk easily wipes off most surfaces? Use colored pencils and huge sheets of butcher paper to create a large mural. Try using laundry line to string across a wall and hang photos, papers, mementos, or anything else you can think of.

Storage

Place RackRisers under each leg of the bed to raise it up and make extra space for clothes, books, dirty laundry, or anything else you can tuck away in plastic crates. Make your furniture dual purpose, such as a table that can double as a TV stand and a desk. Plastic hooks can be hung around to keep things organized, and closet organizers work great too. A fun shower curtain is a great way to cover a closet.

How many times have you been mesmerized by a beautiful piece of furniture that you just had to have it right then and there? You put it in the perfect spot in your home and casually show your pride and joy to your friends. In less than a year, you find yourself wondering why you bought the hideous piece.

When you are in the market to buy upholstered furniture, it can be hard to notice poor quality because it is hidden underneath padding and fabric. With these tips, you will learn how to find furniture you can love, for a long time.

Solid Construction

First and foremost, your furniture should be made with a solid frame so it will be durable and time resistant. Always ask the salesperson what type of wood is used for the frame of the item you are interested in. Avoid plywood and pine, as these are very soft woods. Instead, purchase something made with maple or oak, or another hardwood. Of course, kiln-dried hardwood will provide the most strength and durability. And, thickness does matter, so the lumber should be 5/4 to 8/4 inches.

Material

Not only is the color important when purchasing furniture you can love but the actual texture of the material is very important. When purchasing furniture from a big-box store, most likely you’ll have a limited fabric selection. Smaller furniture specialty stores will have a larger choice of fabric choices, or may also allow you to use your own fabric that you purchased elsewhere. Spend some time feeling the fabric and inspecting the furniture and samples to choose a material that is both durable, comfortable, and in the color or colors of your choice.

When the furniture is delivered to your home, immediately inspect it again. Verify that the item is free from tears, rips, or stains. Also make sure that any patterns line up correctly at the seams.

Many people want unique art to hang on the walls inside their home. But, some simply can’t afford the high price of custom paintings or metal wall art. A great alternative to expensive paintings is to create your own wall art that not only reminds of you of precious memories, but you will be the only person in the world that has that same piece of art.

Three-Dimensional wall hangings are sort of like a scrapbook. You take items from a memorable experience, group them together in an aesthetically pleasing way, and hang it on the wall. Because you already own most of the items that will go into your three-dimensional wall hanging, it is pretty inexpensive.

To create your unique three-dimensional wall art, visit your local craft or department store and purchase a shadow box or other deep frame that is large enough to fit all the items you want to display. You may want to use decorative paper to line the back of the frame, before placing the other items in. Place the largest item into the frame first, then, by size, place the remaining items into the frame. Finish by adding the smallest of trinkets and filler accessories. Close the frame and hang it up!

These fabulous wall hangings look great in any room, depending on what the subject is. You could take an outgrown ballet slipper, a recital program, some dried flowers, and beads to create a beautiful reminder of your daughter’s lover of dance. Boys may enjoy a special baseball, sport’s jersey, and ticket stub form a memorable game, all framed together and hung on the wall. For the bathroom, create a nice collage of dried or silk flowers and soft pictures placed at different depths in the frame. For the living room or family room, use items from a family trip, like a map, ticket stubs, pictures, and anything else you’d like to create a three-dimensional wall hanging.

Parenting undoubtedly is one of the biggest responsibilities in your personal life, and definitely, not an easy one. Especially, when your kids are in their teenage years and are entering the college, several things change, such as the level of communication with them, their financial needs, emotional needs, and even, the thoughts about filling that emptiness in your home. In order to fill the emptiness of the vacant room your child has left, here are some ideas of what you can do with the now vacant room:

You can give your child’s room a complete overhaul to make it a games room. Based on the size of the room, you can order custom poker tables, pool tables, table tennis tables, or other board games to place in the room. This will be fun and will be appreciated by your child as well.

You can pay some attention to your child’s interests and turn that room into a library if he or she likes reading books. You can keep his or her old books and buy some new ones to put them into the glass shelves and can arrange a large table and few chairs to give it a properly library look.

If you are a bored mother with no children to take care of, you can start thinking of offering a babysitting service in the comfort of your home. You can start earning some handsome cash if you are good with kids and can turn that room into a new colorful room with some toys in it.

Turning your child’s old room into a guest room is also a good idea if you don’t have time and money to spend overhauling the room.

After your children have left for the college, it’s your responsibilities to respect their possessive feelings with their rooms. So it is wise to discuss it with your children to know what they think about the idea of overhauling their rooms.

A child’s bedroom is one of the only rooms in the house where you can really let loose with bright colors and fun fabrics. It’s a chance to create a fun space for your kid, perhaps the cool room that you wished you had as a child. Decorating your child’s bedroom doesn’t have to be expensive or a giant project. Better yet, enlist the help of your child as they will be more appreciative if you let them help you create the room of their dreams. The project will also go faster when you have a helper!

Use Bright Colors

Painting a room is an easy and inexpensive way to redecorate. Kid’s rooms should emulate a feeling of fun, but still be calm so they can sleep well. With this in mind, pick bright colors that are also a bit soothing. The hot colors right now are pink, purple and white for girls, and green and brown for boys. These are also great colors that can grow with your child.

Frame Your Child’s Artwork

One of the best ways to get artwork for your child’s room is to let them create it themselves. Use a picture they made at school, or sit down together to create some paintings or collages. Take your child, and her artwork, to a craft store and pick out a mat and frame. Not only will framing your child’s artwork make it look really nice when hung on the wall, but it will protect the art and keep it looking great for many, many years.

Personalization

A new trend in room décor, especially kid’s rooms, is personalization. Purchase some inexpensive wood letters from your local craft or department store. Paint them to match the colors in your child’s room and hang them over the bed, buy pillows with your child’s first initial on them and place on the bed or a comfy chair, or stencil a monogram on an accent wall.

Every once in a while, it’s time to make a change in your home. Whether you like to change things up every couple of months or every couple of years, it can be expensive. If you’re one to not freshen up rooms in your home because of your budget, have no fear. There are many ways to make changes to every room in your home without spending a fortune. An easy way to get a fresh look in any room in your home is to cover things up!

Furniture Covers

One of the easiest ways to get a new couch or chair, without the high price tag of new furniture, is to cover them. Browse the internet and weekly sale flyers to find furniture covers on sale. Don’t forget to search online for coupon codes. Then look for the perfect furniture cover for your room. Couch and chair covers are very easy to use. Some types fit over the furniture like a big sheet. Tuck the fabric into the edges of the cushions for a streamlined look; tie the sides if your cover has them. There are also elastic ended covers that fit like a shower cap over your furniture. Many people feel these types stay in place better than the previously mentioned style of furniture covers.

Paint and Stain

Another inexpensive and easy way to enhance an existing piece of furniture and give it new life is to paint or stain it. This is especially great for wood tables, chairs, bookcases, and dressers. If painting your wood furniture is a bit too scary for you, you can sand them down and re-stain it, perhaps in a different color stain to make the piece look and feel like you just purchased a new item. Get really fancy, and mix and match paint colors, such as making the seat a different color than the rest of the chair.

Do you ever wake up in the morning, walk into a room in your home, and just wish it could be changed right there and then? Do you feel like you need something fresh in your living room every few months, or perhaps every couple of years? The simplest way to change a room is to rearrange the furniture.

Start with the larger pieces of furniture first, usually the couch and the TV, if there is a TV in the room. You need to find an alternative locate for the couch, making sure that there is a good spot for the TV, so that people sitting on the couch can see the TV. Then, you want to put any end tables or coffee tables on the sides and in front of the couch. This is where the room will really start to pull together and the remaining furniture should be easy to place.

Now, one at a time, bring back in some accessories. You want to put one thing in a spot at a time and see how it looks. Then bring in another. You may be surprised to realize that you previously had too much in the room and will feel that not everything needs to come back in. Better yet, “shop” in other rooms of your house and bring in different accessories to make the room feel new.

Lastly, the artwork on the walls must be hung. Just like the accessories, you want to bring in one wall hanging at a time. And, just like the accessories, try switching items between different rooms in your home. A wall shelf that was in the dining room may look really nice in the living room. A painting from the hallway may look better in your living room. Then, place the artwork that will no longer hang in the living room into those other rooms to replace what was moved.

Everyone wants to have a nice home with comfortable furnishings, sleek accessories and our favorite colors and textures. Those on a budget often feel that they have to settle for less when looking to decorate, but this shouldn’t be the case. No matter what your taste and style is, or your budget, you can have a home with rooms that look like they came straight out of a magazine.

Create a Portfolio

Browse magazines and websites for inspirational ideas. Cut or print out your favorite rooms or individual items. Create a little scrapbook that you can have with you while shopping for referral.

You Too Can Be an Artist

Make your own wall art. Anyone can create a beautiful piece that is suitable to hang on the wall. Look online for samples of paintings and try to recreate them. If you prefer to skip the paint, take some pictures of nature. Blow up the pictures, frame them, and hang on the wall.

Consignment Shops

Consignment shops and second-hand stores are great places to find bargains, especially with the many high-end shops popping up with designer clothing and furniture. Prices are great, and for many this is the only way to own designer items. If a piece has potential, but looks a little old for the wear, simply add a coat of paint or stain. Also, check out yard sales and classified ads in your local newspaper and online at sites like Craig’s List.

Discount Stores

These shops are the perfect place to find accessories. Look for candles and candle holders, potpourri, curtains and decorative curtain rods, and even pretty plant pots and vases.

Add a Splash of Color

The easiest, quickest, and cheapest way to dramatically change the appearance of a room is to paint the walls a new color. Go ahead and pair the new wall color with new curtains for an even more noticeable change that is still budget friendly.

If you are looking for fun ways to recycle items, reduce your waste, or even if you are just looking for some craft projects, glass bottles and containers are perfect. If you are just starting out recycling and reusing in your home, glass containers are a great item to start with because they are easy to clean and the reuses for glass bottles are only limited by your imagination.

Glass Terrarium

Glass containers can be used in many ways to decorate your home or office. Old fishbowls, large vases, or glass bowls can be used to make a terrarium. This can be done by putting some aquarium stones at the bottom of the glass container, then add some soil. Place your favorite plant in the middle and finish the terrarium with pine needles or more stones. To go a step further, use the glass out of a broken picture from to place on top of the bowl. Plants in this type of container are very easy to take care of.

Votive Holder

For smaller glass jars, especially ones with a wider mouth, can be made into tea light lanterns or votive holders. Wrap some wire around the neck of your jar and then use more wire to create a handle by arching a piece from one side of the neck to the other. Drop a scented tea light candle into the middle for a cute accessory. Or, make several and hang along the porch or patio.

Homemade Flavored Oil and Vinegar

To start, decant some vinegar or oil into your clean glass bottles. Add your favorite herbal combinations, such as mint, cilantro, or basil. Top with a clean, but used wine cork. A label can be made with an old greeting card or recycled cardboard. This will last in the refrigerator until you are ready to use or give as a gift.

Going green is not only a trend, but it is a sign that people understand the need to cut down on waste to improve the Earth’s environment. Most of the products we use and consume have containers that do not quickly break down in the landfills, causing more harm than most people know. The best way to reduce waste is to recycle. Find another way to use that plastic bottle or tin can.

Re-Use Packing Peanuts
Packing peanuts are the perfect drainage material for the bottom of plant containers and pots. They are light and airy, perfect to allow water to drain throughout the plant’s roots and prevent rotting. And what’s even better, is these are free, which makes them much better than buying rocks to use at the bottom of pots and planters.

Recycle Plastic Plant Pots
After planting your garden, you undoubtedly have a mountain of those plastic pots. Instead of throwing them away, use them as plant markers. These are much more studier than the tiny, barely readable markers that come with most plants. To make this craft, turn the plastic pot upside down and use a wood burning tool to write the name of the plant in the side of the pot. Write as big as possible so you’re sign is easy to read. Be careful not to burn through the plastic. Then, use grout to fill in the letters. When dry, remove the access grout and bury the bottom into the ground near the plant. For extra protection from wind, place a few rocks on top.

Start a Compost Pile
Did you know about 26 percent of solid waste in America is food items? Instead of throwing out your leftovers and scraps, add them to the compost pile and you’ll have some great and nutritious dirt for your garden. It will also make your kitchen less stinky because you don’t have old food sitting in a trash bag.

Many people find that decorating a small room is a huge challenge. Having items in a small space, without making the space look too cluttered, is one of the biggest complaints from those that are redecorating. Couple the challenge of the size of the space with the challenge of a smaller budget, and many people decide it’s not worth it to decorate a small room. There is no reason to scrap the entire project! Here are some great ways to decorate a small room on a budget.

Remove the Clutter

The cheapest, easiest, and quickest way to improve a small space is to remove the clutter. Take everything out, even pillows and get a good look at the room. Then, bring items back in, one at a time. Stop when you are satisfied that there is enough decoration, but it’s not too much.

Use Several Large Scale Items

You may have heard otherwise, but using a couple larger or taller pieces in a small room will help the room feel bigger and will provide the eye with a smoother trip as it scans across the room. If you want to make the small room look larger, hanging a large painting or decorative run on a wall is better than placing several small pieces in the same area.

Use Rich, Warm Colors

Nothing is better than feeling cozy and comfortable in a small room. This can be done by adding pillows and throw blankets on the corner of a couch or chair. Try placing some muslin as a swag over a curtain? Drape the windows with soft and flowy fabric.

Use Double-Duty Items

This is where it’s vogue to be secretive. Use ottomans that open and can be used for storage. Use a futon for a sofa that can double as a guest bed. A chest is a great coffee table that can be used to store extra blankets, take-out menus, remote controls, and more.

Everyone wants a nicely decorated home that feels comfortable, is functional, and won’t blow the budget. But, with today’s economy, many find it impossible to redecorate their home because of high prices. This is where some creativity and savvy redecorating tips come in handy.

Create a Plan
First, decide how you would like the newly decorated room to look? What colors will you be using? Do you want a traditional or modern style? Get an idea in your head and then start browsing home décor magazines and websites. Find a few pictures that reflect the style you are going for and cut or print them out. Have these pictures easily accessible while shopping. You might also do well with a list of items you need to complete your redesign.

Take Stock in What You Already Own
Shop around your own home to find items that you can relocate to the newly decorated room. You will give new life to an old treasure, and you already know you like the item and that it fits your tastes in décor, because you already own it. The best thing about relocating an item you already have is that it is free decorating! It is also a good idea to take any items out of the room that won’t make the cut. This way you will see exactly what you have to determine what you need to complete your renovation.

Look For Coupon Codes and Sales
Next, get online and look around for coupon codes and sales at your favorite home decorating stores. There are many websites that are specifically geared to providing coupon codes for thousands of stores, all in one place. Most of these codes are a mixture of numbers and letters that you can jot down. These codes are entered during checkout to reap the benefits of a discounted price. Other coupons are only effective if you shop through a specific link.

Furniture and home décor can get extremely expensive, especially for those with a taste for more high-end and luxurious items. But, wanting to redecorate your home with high-end furnishings or wearing designer clothing may not be feasible. A great place to start is high-end consignment shops, which are not like garage sales or other shops where the products offered may not be in perfect condition. Many people have the incorrect perception that a consignment shop is no more than a glorified garage sale, and that is not true.

A high-end consignment shop typically deals with furniture, clothing and more expensive pieces that are in perfect to near perfect condition. Top brand name items typically fill the floors and isles, along with cases of sparkly jewels. Because most of the items are high-end with luxurious brand names, shoppers may be surprised to find the prices tags are not as low as they’d expect.

Of course, a high-end consignment shop is expected to be more expensive than the corner children’s consignment store. But sticker shock does occur to many shoppers. What you have to remember when shopping in a high-end consignment shop is that the prices are relevant to the condition of the item, the brand name of the item, and the current retail price. To put this in prospective, a Ralph Lauren couch may go for $9,000 in retail stores, but you can get the same Ralph Lauren couch, only gently used, for only $3,000. As you can see, this is a significant savings, but still a high price for the average person.

The same can be said for clothing sold at high-end consignment shops. These stores will only accept designer labels with no signs of wear. This gives a person the opportunity to own designer clothes, without the designer price. Since designer clothes are made with quality products, these items usually last a lot longer than the shirt you purchased at your local department store.

It is not often that a jewelry designer achieves phenomenal success within his own lifetime. In the case of Roberto Coin, he only began his jewelry shop in Vincenza, Italy (which is, coincidentally, the city of gold) in 1977. Before that, he was a successful hotelier in the Channel Islands. But like a lot of young entrepreneurs, there is what makes the money, and then there is what makes life truly worth living. For Roberto, what makes his life worth living is the beauty of women and adorning them properly. This is why he sold his hotel holdings at 32 years old and set up shop making jewelry. Beginning in 1984, he began to design on the side, at first. He was primarily focused on bringing to life the designs of other people.

However, in 1996 the time had finally come, and Roberto Coin released his very own signature brand. The brand has been extraordinarily well received, and it took only four years for his designs to reach the level of seventh most popular in the United States. And considering the uniqueness of some of his designs (and the fact that he produces, on average, 600 new designs every single year), Mr. Coin may one day be in danger of becoming the most popular designer in the United States.

He has produced several extremely notable, unique pieces. One of the most notable was created expressly for the Platinum Guild. Known as the Quadrifoglia Collection, it is platinum, diamonds and tsavorite in a necklace, ring and earrings. Another gorgeous wonder from Mr. Coin’s imagination is his Haute Couture ring, which is peach gold and diamonds with a soft curve about the entire piece. It comes across as strong, but without sacrificing its feminine grace. The designs are fit for royalty, to be certain. An interesting tidbit about all of the Roberto Coin designs is that he always includes a ruby in everything he creates, in the tradition that rubies grant good health.

Some people re-arrange their living room furniture with each change of the season while others keep everything exactly the same, year after year. No matter how much you like, or dislike change, it is refreshing to change things around a bit. Redecorating your living room doesn’t have to be expensive, here are 5 tips:

1. Out With The Old
The first thing you want to do is remove any décor that you do not want to keep in the re-design. This could be an old painting or your couch, but the point it get it out as quickly as possible so you can take stock of what is remaining and create a plan.

2. Online Inspiration/Print Inspiration
Browse through home décor magazines and websites to get inspiration. What colors to you like? Doing some research online to narrow down your intentions and create an action plan will ensure the rest of the project goes smoothly. Clip or print out your inspirational pictures to take to stores when purchasing new items for your living room.

3. Discount Shopping
Now that you have a plan and a certain style in mind, it’s time to shop! Visit local consignment shops and discount stores to find items that resemble your inspiration pictures.

4. Make it Yourself
If you can not find something you are looking for, be it that perfect painting or a chair cover that matches your drapes, make it yourself. You know what you want, so just make it. Buy an extra pair of curtain panels and use the material to create a chair cover or some throw pillows. Grab some paints and create a masterpiece.

5. Shop In Your Own House
Look around the other rooms of your home to find items you already own that would look nice in your living room. You should already like the pieces, which is a big plus, as well as the fact that you are not buying anything new.

Money spent on furnishing your home will go further if you take care of what you own. Keeping your furniture and home clean is one way to ensure they will last longer. In addition, cleaning serves a purpose that goes beyond keeping up appearances.

It is good for your physical and mental health to look good. The same goes for your home. Germs, mustiness, and dust are bad for your health and bad for the life of your furnishings and surfaces in the home.

Now is as good a time as any, to schedule a de-cluttering party. Involve all of your family members in de-cluttering their own spaces. Use boxes or bags and designate them for throwing away, giving away, and keeping. Organize your home by de-cluttering, and it will make caring for your home a lot easier.

If you have allergies or any respiratory ailments, dust will agitate the problems. Using a feather duster and a vacuum daily will do wonders.

Even in winter, opening alternating windows will help keep stale or musty air, which may contain fumes or smoke, from lingering inside the home. Throw on a warm sweater and let fresh air permeate throughout your home. You will be ridding the home of airborne germs as well.

Opening a window now and again is also good for wood floors and furnishings. With heat on all winter long, wood may dry out. This is true especially for heavy traffic areas. These places also need special attention now and then, to keep the wood healthy, such as floor treatments.

Regular cleaning in your home will do one more thing that benefits everyone in your home. It will make you feel better when you are finished. Now only will you feel better for a job well done, the exercise involved in cleaning will keep you physically fit, which in turn, will keep you emotionally fit.

Keeping it cleans saves you money and keeps you healthy.

When you hear the word storage, you most likely think about items you want to keep but do not want to have out in the open for visitors to see. Examples of this are seasonal clothing, outdoor equipment, and lawn and garden supplies.

Other items you accumulate are those that you want or need to have handy. These are things you use regularly, or items you want to display.

Choosing the type of storage is a matter of personal taste and style. If you want to show off these items, open storage is the perfect way to do so. You can use bookshelves, cabinets, individual shelving, or fancy bureaus for many objects, including the following:

1. Books

Buy bookshelves large enough to fit all the books you currently own, with an extra shelf for books you will acquire.
2. Trophies and awards

If you have children, individual shelving is ideal for displaying your children’s individual awards, trophies, or framed certificates. Children could have their own shelf to display their accomplishments. Adults can display their certificates and diplomas.
3. Collectibles

Whether it is dolls, clowns, or animal figurines, almost everyone has a collection. Perhaps you picked up unusual seashells on your last trip to the beach, or you collect interesting looking gems or stones. You can purchase inexpensive boxes or trays to hold the small items. The large items can sit on the shelf alone.

4. Knickknacks

Decorative knickknacks, vases, or unusually shaped bottles are perfect for the top of a china cabinet or bureau filled with linens.

5. Artwork and Photos

Artists and photographers can display their work on open shelves. Sculpted pieces, photos, and finished artwork will look amazing on shelves that are visible from any angle of a room.

Storing items in this manner is space saving and decorative. It also gives your home a personal touch, one that gives your guests a sense of welcoming, and you a sense of hominess.

The potentials of open storage are endless.

Dividing a large room into two small rooms is ideal for those who work at home, or for those who bring their work home with them.

If you want to divide a room without major renovations, there are easy and economical ways to separate a workplace from a place for relaxation.

1. Make use of the furniture in the room

Shelves, especially open shelves you can access from both sides of the room, are great because they will not block the lighting in the room. Screens, which come in a variety of styles to fit your need and budget, are an easy solution for breaking up space in a large area.

Arrange the furniture you already have in the room. Marking off areas for work and play with furniture, is an easy and fun way to separate areas for day and night activities. Creating two diminutive rooms requires only your imagination.

2. Think color

Another innovative way to separate a tranquil space from a workspace is to use a coloring system. Depending on individual tastes, use either subtle changes or bold contrasts in tone, to highlight the two spaces.

3. Floor Coverings

Covering one side of a room with carpeting and the other side with hardwood, laminate, or linoleum, makes a more obvious division. Use a durable floor covering for the play area, and a large carpet or several area rugs in the space where you work.

4. Window Treatments

You can hang items normally placed on windows, such as shades, curtains, or blinds, from the ceiling to partition off areas in a room.

5. Light it up

You need proper lighting in a workspace, especially if you write, paint, or read. Softer lighting in the space designated for watching television or listening to music, and bright lighting for the workspace will help to delineate the separate spaces.

Even if you are design-challenged, turning one large room into two living spaces is child’s play if you simply use your imagination.

Decorating on a budget is not only easy to do, but also very fun! There are many different ways you can approach home décor without spending your entire salary.
”’Renew the Old”’
Take old items that you already own and refinish them. Solid wood can be sanded and repainted or stained a new shade. Sofas can be recovered at a fraction of the cost of retail prices for a new piece. Faux wood or laminate furniture can be spray painted with various types of finishing paint, just be sure to read label directions for proper application.
”’Shop Like a Flea Market Pro”’
Check out thrift stores, bazaars and flea markets for great finds at cheap prices. Primitive decorating is a big hit right now, so look for old windows to hang on the wall, mis-matched dining pieces (the more dinged up, the better), bare-bones style wall hangings and anything that could be passed off as something that came from the 1800′s.
”’Buy New, Within Your Means”’
If you want to go with a formal, art deco or modern look, but new pieces at discount stores and then make improvements on your own. Hit the craft store for jewels, ribbon and other items that you can adhere to your home decorating pieces. You can make a ten dollar framed mirror look like something out of a Scottish castle with a little hot glue and some gold leaf.
Creativity will take you to new heights when you are decorating on a budget. Don’t be afraid to try an idea. The worst that could happen is the final product won’t turn out as you hoped. Chances are that it will look terrific and you will take more pleasure in it because of the lengths you went to make it unique.

The concept of color is one of those things that is hard for some people, yet others don’t have an issue with it at all. Visualization is important when choosing color, but if you weren’t born with that knack, you still have some options to help you out. Color wheels can be a total lifesaver when you are picking out paint colors, coordinating an outfit or simply shopping for home decor.
Colors within a color wheel are set up just as those that you learned in primary school. Anyone recall Roy G. Biv, also known as Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet? The color wheel represents these colors. Red, yellow and blue are primary colors while orange, green, indigo and violet are secondary colors. Tertiary colors are combinations of primary and secondary colors. There are numerous ways of using the color wheel in order to find shades of color that go together well.
”’Analogous Colors”’
Designs using colors located next to one another on the color wheel are known as analogous schemes. These schemes typically use no more than three adjacent colors (a primary and two secondary, or a primary, a secondary and a tertiary). This creates an effect that is similar to color combinations that one might see in a nature setting. It gives a peaceful look to a room.
”’Complementary Colors”’
Designs that use colors directly across from one another on the color wheel are known as complementary color schemes. Red and green, yellow and purple, blue and orange are all examples of complementary colors. Complementary colors really make a design within a room pop out. Vibrancy and energy circulate in rooms that are styled with complementary colors.
You can also choose to use neutral colors such as browns or grays and then use a single primary or secondary color throughout your design. This gives a relaxed feel while still drawing attention to particular points of interest.

Great rooms have been all the rage within the last decade. Homes were once cozy and small spaces, but as families grow and people accumulate more belongings, builders have started to make homes bigger. This is great for an open feel, but it often brings difficulty when decorating. If your goal is to make big rooms feel inviting, here are some tips that may help:
*Use various heavy textiles when decorating. A beautiful afghan can be displayed on a wall. Sofas might be covered in velour or another material that brings warmth to a room.
*Hang pictures so that the focal point is slightly higher than eye level. This helps even out the space between the ceiling and floor.
*Paint the room in a tone that feels pleasant to the eye. Soft yellows, dark beiges and even tones of sage can all bring a comfortable feeling to an otherwise cold room.
*Avoid jewel tones. Jewel tones create a formal feeling, which is great when that is the look you are trying to achieve, but not so wonderful if your aim is for a relaxed feeling.
*Buy rich colored hardwoods when choosing furniture. A metal and glass coffee table will not feel as homey as a beautiful walnut table.
*Plush carpeting on floors feels luxurious, but if you prefer wood flooring, be sure to go dark. Big rooms seem to overwhelm everything you put in them. Darker colors will help combat this feeling.
*Overhead lighting is terrific when you need to have a room lit up, but for a night spent in the great room with company, table lamps will better help you achieve the look that you are going for.
*Plush sofa pillows help carry the feeling of comfort and warmth.
*When it comes to window coverings, stay away from sheers. Heavier drapes will help contain heat within big rooms.

Recycling is not a new concept. People have been recycling goods in one form or another since the beginning of time. Are you recycling everything that you can? Here are some creative uses for things that you may have never considered as recyclable:
*Used fabric softener sheets can be used to freshen up drawers or linen closets. You can also save up fabric sheets over time and use them to stuff small sewing projects. Fabric softener sheets make terrific dusting cloths because the dust clings to them as you wipe down a surface.
*Empty egg cartons can be used as paint trays, seedling planters or even packaging for small fragile holiday ornaments.
*Old boots can be remade into decorative outdoor planters. Throw a coat of paint on them for a unique look!
*Save used wrapping paper to make multi-colored paper mache projects.
*Denim clothing that has gone beyond repair can be used to make cute entry rugs. You can tie or braid strips of the material to make one of these durable and nostalgic rugs.
*Use a wrapping paper tube with a stray sock on the end to grab cobwebs in hard to reach spots. Take the sock off and stick the tube over your vacuum hose to create a longer attachment tool.
*Paper towel tubes work wonderfully to store rolled documents. Perfect for those papers that you don’t want to fold and stick in an envelope.
*Whipped cream containers, jelly jars, margarine tubs and other containers with lids can be used to store leftover food.
*An old toothbrush makes a terrific mani/pedi tool. Perfect for scrubbing under nails!
*Aluminum foil is disposable right? Why waste it when you can wash it and use it again. Heavy duty foil can be washed and reused many times before it’s too battered. Clean, used foil is also great to line the bottom of the oven so you can avoid sticky, charred messes from spillovers.

The latest in fashion design is continually changing. What worked yesterday could be completely different from what will work tomorrow. Designers are presenting some throwbacks for 2011 designs.
*Large mod patterns from the late 60′s are emerging on tops, dresses and even handbags.
*Small florals and other petite prints are making their way onto a variety of pieces.
*Sheer is becoming even more prominent than we saw in the early 90′s.
*Ruffles and frills are making feminine waves throughout the fashion world.
*Influences from the 40′s and 50′s are seen in footwear and formal dresses.
*Finally, we are seeing some 80′s favorites thank you punk rock, we missed you!
*Yes, the 70′s are showing up as well. Designers have added bell bottom-style pants to many of their lines, along with blousy tops and the iconic tunic.
It seems like top designers are taking favorite trends throughout the decades and combining them for an entirely new look that is both fresh and at the same time, nostalgic. Off-whites, nudes and other neutrals are dominating the palette with bright pastels standing close by. Oranges and browns (another throwback) are coming together once again as well.
Shoes are ranging from Grecian-style knee-high strappy sandals to 20′s inspired suede heels adorned with rosettes. Handbags are running the gamut as well large to small, patterned and plain. This season has something in store for every taste. Jewelry is shimmering with emeralds, diamonds and opulent tourmaline. Pieces are larger than ever; what was called gaudy a decade ago is the new “in” now. Designs from past generations are showing up in this arena as well. Look for pieces featuring owls, turtles, crossover and wreath designs.
If there is an era in fashion design that really stands out to you, look for facets of that within 2011 collections chances are you will exactly what you are looking for!

Decorating small rooms can be difficult. Most furnishings are of substantial size. If you have too many large pieces in a small room, it will feel cluttered and even more compact. You can avoid this by purchasing furniture that is not overstuffed, bulky or upholstered in fabrics with large patterns. There are many other ideas that can help you make your room feel larger as well:
*Use mirrors in the room, particularly across from windows. Mirrors placed across from windows will help to reflect more light. This makes the room appear larger than it is.
*Paint the walls of the room a light shade, such as pale yellow, peach or even a very soft blue. Use white paint on the ceiling. Dark shades will make a small room feel more compact than they really are.
*Use artwork that is proportionately sized. A large wall hanging on a small wall will look out of place. Several smaller pieces grouped together are better than one large piece.
*Decorate using symmetry. Using symmetry when decorating helps the eye float over the room. Asymmetrical design tends to make the eye focus on one area. That is not helpful when you are attempting to enlarge the look of an area.
*Use curtains made of lightweight or sheer fabric. This is an area, again, where soft colors and small prints will help to visually create space in the room.
*Try to stick to one style as opposed to an eclectic mix of décor. Keeping the eye flowing across the room is key.
*Eliminate coffee tables. A coffee table takes up square footage. Using smaller side tables still allows guests a place to set their drinks without taking up too much floor space. Consider purchasing trundle style side tables. These are usually a set of three tables of varying heights that can be used separately, but store in a neat stack to save space.

Most home improvement projects cost some serious money. You can save cash by looking into do it yourself projects. There are many renovations and fixes that you can do on your own. This will save you money on costly labor charges.
*Patch your own walls. Nail holes, dings, scratches and other small imperfections in your wall can be fixed quite simply. You will need drywall compound, a hand sander and a joint knife.
1. Make sure area is clean and dry.
2. Apply a small amount of joint compound to the surface of the wall, making sure to slightly overfill the holes or crack drywall compound shrinks slightly as it dries.
3. Let the compound dry as indicated on the label.
4. Using the hand sander, gently sand the area so the surface is level with the remainder of the wall.
5. If the wall has a sand texture, you will need to apply a product called PearlTex to match the existing texture. This is available at paint stores.
*Lay laminate flooring for a great new look. You can lay laminate flooring on your own in a weekend. You will need enough laminate tile to cover your square footage plus 10% (this allows for cutting), a pail of flooring glue, a tape measure, a palette knife and a utility knife.
1. Take up your old floor if it is cracked, peeling or broken. Old flooring that is visually unappealing, but otherwise okay, can be covered with the new laminate.
2. Start in the center of the room. Remove backing from the tile and use the palette knife to apply a thin layer of glue. Place the tile directly in the center of the floor. Apply pressure to secure the tile once situated.
3. Continue working in one direction, clockwise from the center out, making sure tiles are lined up as you go.
4. When you reach an edge or angle, use the utility knife to cut the tile to fit.

Choosing the décor for your home can feel daunting. The best way to make a decision on home décor is to figure out which style suits you the best.
*Southwestern
New Mexico, Arizona and Southern Texas influence the southwestern look. Deep, rich reds, oranges, greens and blues dominate the palette. Hand weaved blankets with Native American patterns are used as decorative wall hangings. Terra cotta vases and pots are used often in decoration, as are iconic southwestern images such as the sun, coyotes and lizards.
*Modern/Art Deco
Modern and art deco décor share some of the same characteristics. Go with one of these styles if you like clean lines, mirrors and glass, asymmetrical design and geometric shaping. This style of furniture was very popular in the 20′s and 30′s.
*French Country/English Country
Soft colors, floral patterning, stone, iron and wood are the mainstays of the French and English country furnishings.
*Victorian
Intricately carved furniture, embellishments such as tassels, heavy upholstery fabric and dark woods are all common attributes used in Victorian décor.
*Rustic
Sometimes seen as a lodge or wooded look, rustic décor is very basic. No fluff or frills. Handcrafted (often cumbersome) wooden pieces, wilderness art and well-used furniture are distinctive of this style.
*Shabby Chic
Shabby chic décor encompasses imperfection. Vintage furniture, which has been painted ivory or white, is very popular in shabby chic design. You will also find eclectic prints, slipcovered furniture and blousy curtains in this style of design. Soft, feminine and just a bit out of place.
The style of home décor that you go with should fit well with your personal taste. Budget is also a major consideration. Rustic pieces will be more affordable than Victorian, whereas shabby chic allows some do it yourself decorating options. Pieces can usually be purchased locally or online. If you shop for home décor online, look for coupon codes to save some extra money.

A new year is here and you need some up-to-date fashion ideas. Keeping up with current style is fairly simple. Checking out coverage of fashion week is a good indicator of what is to come. Here are some fashion ideas that you should be on the lookout for:
*Keep your eye out for wide leg pants. Wide legs were fashion staples of the past and are now making their way back into style. Designers are bringing back wide legs in both jeans and dress trousers.
*High waists are flattering figures once again. The higher waist style of pants is making a reappearance. With the high set waist comes a thicker waist band. This keeps pants from having undesirable bulges. Another bonus to the higher-waisted pant? No more “muffin-top” That should get cheers from all sides!
*Decorative elements such as tassels, buckles, bows and lace are adorning all types of clothing and footwear. Also look for built-in belts, scarf neck ties and zippers where you might not expect them. What was once out, is now back in.
*Crop tops are here. Start working on the abs, girls, this belly-baring look is back with a vengeance.
*Cute heeled clogs look great with the wide leg pants that are showing up. Studded leather clogs with wooden heels are making a huge statement.
*Batiked skirts, tops and dresses, along with other bohemian trends, are going to be available for seasonal looks.
*Lace and satin are showing up in the resurgence of the lingerie trend. Camisoles as tops, slinky skirts and sheer attire are swathing bods everywhere.
The great thing about the new styling trend is that there are no hard and fast rules. Mix and match as you please. Use the looks you like; leave the looks you don’t. Have fun with your wardrobe, but don’t get too attached. By next year, something else will show up on the runways.

You want your home to have a look and feel that feels appealing to your personal taste. The best way to achieve what you want is by subscribing to some long-held home decoration tips.
For a Warm and Cozy Home:
-Make sure there is at least one soft throw blanket per seating area. Blankets conjure up thoughts of sitting by a balmy and relaxing fire, feet curled under hip, book in hand.
-Wooden furniture gives a softer feel than metal and glass.
-Use plush carpeting throughout the home. If you have hard wood floors, be sure to have rugs covering much of the surface. Patterned rugs are appealing, but old-fashioned braided or rag rugs really bring a feeling of affection to a home.
-If you have a fireplace, use it as often as possible–particularly when you have company coming over.
For an Elegant and Sophisticated Look:
-This is where the glass and crystal furnishings come into play. Anything shimmery makes a home look instantly elegant.
-Use tiebacks for your curtains. It seems like such a little touch, but it can make the difference between refined and casual.
-Install chair rails and paint the room two tones of the same color (lighter above the rail, darker below). This immediately formalizes a room.
-Use brass accents as this makes a person think of Victorian times, simultaneously referencing etiquette and courteousness.
-As far as flooring is concerned, stone, ceramic, marble and other similar materials work well in a formal setting. Use intricately patterned rugs to help warm the room without taking from the look.
Whatever the look that you want to encourage in your home, ideas from the past can help you achieve what you are creating. These ideas have stuck around for one reason they work. Use your own ideas along with these home decoration tips for a look and feel that is pleasing.

There is no reason to spend a lot of money on home decorating. If you are living on a budget and trying to stay within your means, you certainly do not want to charge non-essential items to a credit card in order to fix up your house.
*Check the thrift store first. Thrift stores usually have many used furnishings, often in nearly new condition. You can pick up artwork, mirrors, picture frames, lamps, even sofas and bedroom sets in some cases.
*Used furniture stores also have some nice selections. The items that they take in are professionally cleaned prior to resale. Repairs, when needed, are made to any tattered areas.
*Check rent-to-own stores for furniture and decorative items. They frequently rent out items that are not fully paid for by the renter. The item then returns to the store; when new products are released, old products are offered for sale at a discount.
* Warehouse sales are another route to go when looking for home décor. These typically consist of items that are part of last year’s collection, have small imperfections or have been produced in mass quantities without a huge demand.
*Keep an eye on the garage sale ads in your area. Many people will list an advertisement when they plan to sell larger furnishings.
*Check the internet for sales. Take a look at sites like Craigslist.com, eBayClassifieds.com or Oodle.com to see listings from sellers in your area.
When buying furnishings, always try to bargain. Even if you go to a retail furniture store, there is always room for a discount. If you find an item that you truly like, tell the salesperson you will make the purchase if you can get 30% off. Talk to the manager if the salesperson does not have authority to make that decision. Start at 30% and be willing to bargain down. Chances are you will get a great deal. The store won’t want to pass up the chance to make a sale.

You recycle paper, plastic and glass so, why not recycle old, unstylish furnishings into fashionable just-like-new items. You can take everything from used furniture to old household decorations, add a new twist to them and have a whole new look in your home.
*Recover your furniture. Old sofas, loveseats and chairs do not have to go to the curb just because they are out of style. You can purchase upholstery fabric from nearly any fabric store. Recovering the furniture only takes time, material and a staple gun.
* Old tires can be recycled into chic new planters for your spring flowers. If you have children, put up an old fashioned tire swing for them. That is a memory they will not ever forget!
*You can turn blue jeans, khaki pants or other items made of thicker fabric into cute beach bags, purses and library bags.
*Wood furniture can be stripped and re-stained. Another option is to sand and then stain the wood. If you are going for a primitive or rustic look, feel free to take a hammer and a bit of sand paper to the piece; the more beat-up, the better in this case.
*A rusted out wash tub might not hold water anymore, but it can make a terrific decorative piece. A little bit of acrylic paint goes a long way to spice up the look.
*Old table cloths, placemats, towels and more can be ripped into strips and weaved into rag rugs. Not only are these rugs cute and back in style, they are also warm and functional.
*Drawers leftover from a junked dresser can be used for storage. Most are the perfect height to store underneath a bed. Use them as storage for bed linens, extra shower curtains, seasonal clothing or anything else that you want out of the main storage areas.

If you are like most people, you are constantly looking for ways to save money. When you are on a budget, decorating your home is usually last on your list of priorities. It is something that you would love to do, but feel too guilty spending the money. You can decorate your home the way that you want to without blowing the savings account.
Here is a fun idea that will help you gather some different décor for your home without spending a dime:
1.Send out an email to your friends, neighbors and coworkers to let them know you are holding a “free auction”. Ask them to gather all of the home décor that they are ready to part with. Everyone should gather as much as possible.
2.Set a date for everyone to meet. Gather some drinks, snacks and a few folding tables. Everyone should set up their area with the items they are ready to get rid of.
3.Each item should have a bid sheet in front of it. A slip of paper will do, no need to be fancy.
4.Each participant receives a set amount of play money ($250 is a good amount to “shop” with). Use play money from a board game, or cut slips of paper and mark them.
5.The participants may bid on as many items as they want, but they must stay within budget. Setting a time limit on the shopping portion will help keep this event within a reasonable range.
6. Everyone gets to leave with items that are new to them. They can use the item as is, repaint it, repurpose it- whatever they’d like.
7.Items that are left may be re-bid on by anyone with remaining “money” or can be donated to Goodwill.
This is a fun way for friends to get together, get rid of items and take new items home. It works well for participants and the environment!

More people are working at home than ever before. For those fortunate enough to have enough living space to devote an entire room to their home office, designing that space is simple.

For those people who have to turn their living room, bedroom, or den into a multi-functional space to include a home office, it can be more difficult, but not impossible.

Things to consider when creating a home office space include:

1. comfort

The space needed to work from home should be easily accessible. At the same time, a space tucked away from foot traffic will lessen distractions that can lead to interruptions while working.

2. efficiency

When working outside the home, employers give workers everything they need to carry out the duties required. Organizing a workspace in the home is no different. Creating a space to include everything needed to get a job done, is a high priority.

3. lighting

Overhead lighting is the most efficient way to light up a space to work from home. For close work such as sewing, painting, or writing, a floor to ceiling lamp or a desk lamp makes the most sense.

4. space

For those using a computer to work from home, a desk large enough to hold a computer, printer, and a fax machine, is the first consideration. The desk should also have compartments for paper, pens, pencils, and reference books if needed.

5. storage

If the work requires a large quantity of materials and supplies, shelving and cabinets will keep everything in place. This will also keep work supplies out of the way after office hours.

If money is a problem, there are thrift stores that sell furniture, lighting, and shelving at reasonable prices.

People work from home for a variety of reasons. A work-from-home office does not have to cost a lot of money. It only has to function well for those who work from home.

When thinking about colors to paint the walls in their home, people usually think about choosing their favorite colors. They may buy clothing exclusively in their favorite colors, because colors fit any style of clothing.

Paint comes in every color imaginable, especially when paint stores mix colors together to make one unique color. Unlike styles of clothing, where people can wear any type of fashion in any color they choose, different colors used in interior decorating depend on the style a person prefers for their home.

For example, if a homeowner loves the style of the fifties, candy colors such as bright yellow, orange, or pink, would fit that style. If people like art deco, the smooth colors of beige and cream would be perfect.

Choosing colors for a room is a reflection on a person’s personality. A color that provokes an emotional response will work well, as long as the color matches the preferred style. Wild colors like those popular in the sixties, would not work well with the rustic style of the home’s furnishings.

People need to take the color of their furniture into consideration when choosing a paint color for the walls. If the home contains a lot of brightly colored furniture, the paint on the wall should be a plain color. If the furniture is dark colored, paint the walls a light color. There should be an even blend of colors in the room.

Lighting is as important in choosing a color, as it is to the functionality of a room. In a bright paint store showroom, colors can appear to have a different tone, when compared to lighting in a room.

Bringing home paint samples and testing colors in the room is best, before making a definite choice on what color to paint the walls of a room. Be sure the color fits the style of the room for best results.

Shopping online can feel a bit overwhelming. There are so many sites, so many merchants, and so many choices. And with the enormous amount of choices that are out there, there are also a lot of less than desirable products. The goal of shopping online is to find great deals on brand name products, but with such variety out there it’s tough to know where to look. The good news is there are some tips available on finding the best in brand name jeans, for incredibly low prices. All you have to do is follow these very simple steps.

When looking for great jeans online, like Apple Bottoms, it’s important to not to ignore the bigger online retailers. Just like at normal department store, these online retailers often have sales, and always have clearance sections. The trick is knowing where to find these deals on the bigger sites. It’s not customary for these places to advertise the prices they are slashing, so instead you will have to do a little hunting. The best place to go is through any customized search options. Often times if you type in “jeans” or a specific brand of jeans you be returned with a collection of styles. From there it’s best to refine your search by either choosing a clearance option, or going from lowest to highest price.

Those interested in searching through major search engines like Google and Yahoo, should be leary about the results they find. Many times the sellers will advertise a lower price just to get traffic to the site. Remember that in most situations the smaller dealers don’t quite have the inventory to justify clearance prices in most cases. Finding the right price on big name jeans is easy to do if you stick to the right retailers online.
